Product Description

This tile is a colorful representation of mid-summer, when the day is at its longest and the night is at its shortest. Around the inner circumference of the tile, you can see the flames representing the solstice bonfires.

The depiction of a wheel at the center of the tile brings to mind the ancient tradition of how the ancient bonfires were created. The bonfires were sometimes made from wheels that were soaked in tar and bundled in straw. When the wheels were set afire they would be rolled down a hill into the river or lake. If the wheel stayed afire while sinking into the water it was considered a good omen.

Design created by Lori Baratta Artworks and then printed and glazed onto the tile.
